Molekule’s Air Purifiers Stands Out in the Crowd
You may have heard of poor indoor air quality and that it can cause a variety of health issues. With so many air filters and purifiers on the market, it can be difficult to navigate the differences and determine which is the best option for your home and workplace. At Twenty & Oak, we pride ourselves on curating a selection of products that we believe will provide quality and value to our customers. We carefully select the products offered and only offer premium brands to consumers that align with our values and truly make a difference. This is why we are proud to offer Molekule air purifiers. After doing extensive research, we stand behind the science and data that certifies Molekule’s ability to destroy harmful viruses, germs, mold, bacteria, allergens, and more. Let’s compare Molekule air purifiers to the competition and show you exactly how it stacks up in destroying harmful pollutants.
What is a PECO Air Filter?
Molekule utilizes Photo ElectroChemical Oxidation (PECO) technology, which has been in development for over 20 years. This innovative process actually purifies the air by destroying pollutants at the chemical level. PECO is a catalyst that is activated by light to break down and destroy pollutants such as VOCs, viruses, bacteria, mold spores and allergens, turning them into harmless gases like carbon dioxide and water vapor.
Air Filter vs. Air Purifier
Traditional air filters capture pollutants by trapping them in tiny fibers. Unfortunately, this method does not completely address the problem as small particles can still pass through the filter and larger particles are not destroyed. Molekule air purifiers improve the quality of your indoor air through PECO technology. This unique and patented process actually destroys a wide range of pollutants. As air passes through, larger particles are captured by the filter while microscopic pollutants are destroyed at the molecular level. Research has shown that conventional air filters do not destroy many air pollutants. Through the PECO technology filtration process, the air is actually purified.
HEPA Filter vs. PECO Filter
HEPA filters are made up of a sheet of dense fibers that are designed to trap larger allergens such as pollen, pet dander, dust, and mold spores, but they are generally ineffective against gases. HEPA air filters work by capturing large particles and trapping them on the filter for later disposal. These filters do not capture smaller particles like germs and viruses, and they do not eliminate odors, chemicals, or gases. Molekule air purifiers destroy pollutants in the air with PECO technology which eliminates not only larger particles like pet dander and allergens but also eliminates odor, harmful gases, germs, and viruses.
PECO Filter vs. Blue Light Air Filter
Molekule air purifiers are very different from other air purifiers that use UV light. Molekule’s PECO technology uses low-energy ultraviolet (UV-A) light to destroy pollutants on the surface of the PECO filter. UV-A light is lower energy and safer than ultraviolet light (UV-C) that is found in some other air purifiers. The UV-A light used by Molekule is actually the same light emitted from black lights. In contrast, UV-C has much higher energy and can damage the eyes when looked at. Another concern with UV-C light is ozone emission which can be harmful to the lungs when inhaled. UV-C light is also only effective at destroying particles on surfaces and does not destroy them in the air. In contrast, Molekule’s PECO technology destroys larger particles and microscopic pollutants in the air without emitting harmful byproducts.
PECO vs Activated Carbon Filter
Carbon air filters are commonly used to remove gases. They are designed to filter gases through a bed of activated carbon (or activated charcoal) and are usually used to remove odors from the air, like cigarette smoke. They cannot remove small particles like mold, dust, or pollen from the air. They are also only efficient when a large amount of carbon is used both upfront and through frequent filter replacement, which can be expensive. It is also difficult to determine when the filters need to be replaced. Molekule air purifiers are able to remove gases like VOCs, but unlike a carbon filter, it destroys them. The Molekule also destroys smaller particles like viruses, germs, mold, and allergens. Filter replacement is simple and easy with Molekule air purifiers because you can check the Filter Status Indicator to see when you need to replace the filter.
With several options on the market for air filtration and purification, it can be difficult to understand the key differences and make the best decision for your home or office space. We hope this comprehensive comparison highlights the overall performance of each option and helps you in your air purification goals. The Molekule air purifier is a clear winner when it comes to not only capturing harmful air pollutants but destroying them, making the air you breathe safer for everyone.
