Air Purifiers To Improve Indoor Air Quality
Air purification Reinvented
Indoor air can be up to five times dirtier than outdoor air, and the World Health Organization believes 9 out of 10 people around the world breathe polluted air. That’s why we are committed to expanding the benefits of PECO technology beyond the home: to hospitals, schools, businesses, and even public transportation. Molekule was founded out of a critical need to address the adverse impacts of polluted air, a void in the market for purification, and with the goal of using the power of science to destroy indoor air pollution.
Proven by science.
Developed over 25 years by research scientists, PECO is an innovative technology that uses free radicals—the same radicals used to destroy cancer cells—to break down pollutants at a molecular level, including viruses, bacteria, mold, allergens, and chemicals. By using nanotechnology, PECO can destroy pollutants 1000 times smaller than the standard filters must meet to qualify as HEPA.
Indoor Air Quality
Indoor air quality is the air quality in and around buildings and homes and how it relates to health concerns. Poor indoor air quality has been linked to health issues such as irritation of the eyes, nose, and throat, headaches, dizziness, and fatigue. These symptoms can appear shortly after exposure or manifest over time after repeated exposure to pollutants. Long-term effects include respiratory diseases, heart disease, and cancer. Indoor air quality is often worse than outdoor air quality, which is why it is so important to purify the air in our homes and workspaces.
Air Purifiers for Asthma and Allergies
Poor indoor air quality can aggravate asthma and allergy symptoms. Air purifiers can filter the indoor air and destroy harmful pollutants. While there are many air purifier options available, the best air purifier for asthma and allergy sufferers is one that removes and destroys not only large particles but also smaller particles at the molecular level.
How Air Purifiers Destroy Mold Spores
Indoor mold can have an impact on your health. While everyone reacts to mold exposure differently, repeated exposure can cause a mold allergy and symptoms such as respiratory congestion and related issues. Molekule air purifiers destroy mold spores in the air with PECO technology as opposed to HEPA filters which remove the spores by collecting them on a filter for later disposal.
How Air Purifiers Help Reduce the Risk of Viruses
We want our homes to be safe, especially from harmful germs and viruses that can make us sick. Molekule air purifiers destroy harmful germs and viruses, including the coronavirus, by physically destroying pollutants that are halted by the filter through the use of a proprietary nanocatalyst. This novel approach cleans the air in a more complete way than traditional methods, using chemistry to convert chemicals, mold, viruses, bacteria, and allergens into harmless gases like carbon dioxide and water.
What is a PECO air filter?
Photo ElectroChemical Oxidation (PECO) technology was developed over 20 years, innovating air purification by destroying organic pollutants at the chemical level. After it has been activated by light inside the Molekule air purifier, the surface of the catalyst can break down organic pollutants such as VOCs, viruses, bacteria, mold spores and allergens into harmless gases like carbon dioxide and water vapor. Traditional air filtration captures pollutants by filtering contaminated air through tiny fibers in hopes that only breathable air finds its way out the other side. Research has shown that this method is incomplete and additional methods such as source control may be required. Instead of trying to catch the pollutants in a jungle of small spaces, the fibers of PECO-filters are coated with a catalyst that performs a powerful chemical reaction that destroys organic pollutants at the smallest possible scale.
